Less Effort. Better Results.
What April Taught Us.

I wanted to share our golf coaching results from April, because there is a really clear pattern emerging across our sessions and it is too important not to pass on.

Different golfers, different swings. But the same thing keeps happening.

Golfers arrive trying to fix their swing, often working hard at it. And within a short space of time things start to change. Not because we have added more information, but because we have taken the right things away.

Let me show you what that actually looked like.

Case 01
D.S. (68) — Loss of Distance and Heavy Strike

We removed the tension at the start and focused on a simple turn-first movement, allowing the club to set naturally instead of forcing it early.

Before
7-iron carry128 yards
Ball speed98 mph
StrikeLow heel, inconsistent
After
7-iron carry154 yards
Ball speed109 mph
StrikeCentre
+26
yards gained without trying to hit it harder.

“That’s the first time in years it’s felt effortless.”

D.S.
Case 02
T.W. — Driver: Plenty of Effort, Not Getting the Return

We freed up the motion and improved how the club was delivered through impact.

Before
Carry182 yards
Ball speed128 mph
Spin4,200 rpm
After
Carry214 yards
Ball speed142 mph
Spin2,600 rpm
+32
yards gained, just by improving efficiency.

“I can’t believe I’ve been trying so hard for something that actually works better when I don’t.”

T.W.
Case 03
N.C. — Sudden Loss of Distance with Irons

We spotted a small change — an early wrist set that had crept in and broken the sequence. Once we restored the turn-first movement:

Before
6-iron carry141 yards
StrikeLow, inconsistent
FlightUnstable
After
6-iron carry158 yards
StrikeCentred
FlightStabilised
+17
yards returned, and the game felt familiar again.

“I feel like I’ve got my game back.”

N.C.
Case 04
C.R. — Driver Direction: The Ball Going Everywhere

The issue was not path. It was face control. After improving the release:

Before
Club path+3.2° (good)
Face angle+6.8° (right)
Side spin1,450 rpm
After
Club path+3.2°
Face angle+1.2°
Side spinUnder 300 rpm

“I actually know what the ball is going to do now.”

C.R.

And this is the part that matters most.

When the swing becomes more natural, golfers relax. When they relax, they move better. And when they move better, the game becomes enjoyable again.

“Golf feels fun again. I haven’t said that in a long time.”

M.J.

Golf Coaching Results: What We Saw Across April

Confidence
Improves

Not through more effort. Through better understanding. When tension drops, when movement becomes freer, when you understand what actually controls the golf ball — everything changes.

85%

of golfers in our own survey said they had never taken a golf lesson.

Not because they do not want to improve. But because traditional lessons have a reputation for not working.

What you have just read is not a lesson. It is what happens when improvement is approached differently — with a system, real data, and a focus on what actually needs to change. England Golf estimates the vast majority of recreational golfers never receive structured coaching — and it shows in how the game feels for most people.

If you recognise any of this in your own game, you are not alone — and more importantly, it is fixable.

We will keep sharing our golf coaching results as they happen. Because the more we document, the clearer it becomes:

Golf does not need to be complicated to get better.
